Trane XL20i Ultra Efficient Heat Pump Review

The Trane XL20i Ultra Efficient Heat Pump offers four models ranging in size from 2 tons to 5 tons using the environmental friendly R-410A Refrigerant which does not deplete the ozone layer. In addition to being environmentally friendly R-410A contributes to the energy efficiency of the Trane XL20i since R-410A can absorb and release heat more efficiently than R-22 refrigerant. The Trane XL20i efficiency ratings of up to 19.00 SEER and HSPF up to 9.0 make it eligible to carry the Energy Star Seal. This year being Energy Star rated is very important as a variety of rebate and grants come together to make installing energy efficient heating and cooling systems more affordable than ever before. This fall an Appliance Stimulus Package is coming out with Rebates of $50 – 200 available, the Weatherization Assistance Package is offering Grants of up to $6500 to those who qualify, and Income Tax Credits are also available

Trane Inc. has a long history in the heating and cooling Industry, Trane was founded by a Wisconsin plumber named James Trane in 1885 who invented a low pressure heating system called the Trane Vapor Heating System. In 1910 James and his son Rueben started manufacturing operations as The Trane Company. Since then the company has been a leader in the heating industry and is now a division of Ingersoll Rand. Trane manufactures a full line of heating products, and has been making cooling products since 1931.

The Trane XL20i Heat Pump offers ComfortLink II communicating technology that allows the different parts of your system to communicate with each other so your system automatically charges, configures and calibrates for maximum performance and efficiency. When the optional Telephone Access Module is added you can adjust settings and receive system updates by phone. Your Trane Dealer can also access the system by phone to interact with the system like never before offering real time data for diagnosis. The Trane XL20i has two compressors for trimming the systems energy use. The smaller compressor will run when the demand is low and a larger compressor will run under peak demand. This is like having two systems in one for maximum efficiency under any load condition. The Trane XL20i Heat Pump also offers dual compressors, full-side louvered panels, a weather resistant top to shield the components, environmentally friendly R-410A Refrigerant, a tough baked-on powder coat finish, corrosion resistant fasteners, a double row Spine Fin coil, a rust proof base pan, Two-Stage Cooling and Heating, a three speed fan, low-resistance airflow, and sound insulation on the compressors to give you quiet comfort. Trane offers a 12 Year limited warranty on the compressor, 10 Year limited warranty on the outdoor coil, 10 Year limited warranty on internal functional parts, and optional extended warranties are available.
