Sioux Chief OX Box Outlet Box Review

Every once in a while, a company comes out with a great product, that makes a plumber’s work easier. Sioux Chief has done just that with the OX Box Wall Outlet System. Sioux Chief has made an entire line of OX Box wall outlets for Washing Machines, Ice Makers, Dishwashers, Toilets, and Lavatory Sinks. The wall outlets are available with and without Mini-Arresters that can absorb the effects of water hammer.

Sioux Chief Mini-Arresters

The Mini-Arresters are a desirable item on washing machine, Icemakers, Dishwashers, and Toilets. All of these may have fast acting valves and are susceptible to water hammer.  Antiquated codes call for the installation of “Air Chambers” on these supply lines but fail to recognize that the air in the chamber is rapidly absorbed into the water causing them not to work. Sioux Chief Mini-Arresters have a piston inside them that prevent the air charge from being lost. The Mini-Arresters also unscrew and are replaceable should they fail.

Washing Machine  OX Box

The Washing Machine Ox Box is especially nice for the plumber because the supply and drain are separate boxes and they can be split apart during installation. This allows the entire drain to be contained in one stud bay without having to drill a stud. The supplies can be in a different stud bay and be fed from either the top or bottom just by turning the box.

One option that new construction plumbers will like is the water testing feature that is available for the washing machine box. Just hook a tube between the cold supply for the washer and connect to the drain side. Turn on the cold valve and you have water filling the DWV system. After testing, the tasting port snaps out of the drain box and it is ready for use.
