Peerless PureFire High Efficiency Modulating Condensing Gas Fired Boiler Review

The Peerless PureFire High Efficiency Modulating Condensing Gas Fired Boiler is available in five residential sizes that modulate from 16 to 210 MBH and a commercial unit that modulates from 80 to 399 MBH with efficiencies as high as 97.3% AFUE. The high efficiencies of the Peerless PureFire product line makes the entire line eligible to carry the Energy Star seal which makes them eligible for a $1500 Income Tax Credit. The Peerless PureFire is also eligible for a Rebate of up to $200 from the Appliance Stimulus Program and Grants of up to $6500 under the Weatherization Assistance Program if you qualify, there are also existing state and utility rebate programs in about 50% of the states. These Credits, Rebates, and Grants can combine to make the installation of a Peerless PureFire Boiler very affordable.

The Peerless PureFire’s efficiency is because of its Modulating Condensing Boiler or Mod Con Boiler for the shortened version. In a Mod Con the incoming fuel and air is thoroughly mixed by the fan then sent to the burner to heat the boiler. A control board that has many sensors providing inputs to it controls the fuel/air mixture, the control board determines the size flame the boiler needs to closely match your heating needs. This modulation feature provides the best possible firing rate for your heating needs and contributes greatly to the efficiency of a Mod Con Boiler. The Condensing Boiler is the other half of the high efficiency package. The Condensing Boiler uses almost every bit of heat in the flue gases before exhausting them. So much heat is removed from the flue gases that steam present in the gases actually is condensed to water and the flue gases exhausted are so cool that PVC pipe can be used for a flue pipe. The Mod Con feature offers efficiencies that in the past were unobtainable.

The Peerless PureFire High Efficiency Modulating Condensing Gas Fired Boiler features a control board with a LCD Display that displays the status in plain English with easy to read tests and diagnostic functions. The panel controls functions such as the firing rate, domestic water priority, outdoor reset, reducing off cycle losses and can control up to 16 boilers in a cascade system. The emissions of the Peerless PureFire Mod Con Boiler is rated at less than 30 PPM NOx and exceeds all standards even the tough SCAQMD standards enforced in the Southern California area. The Condensing Boiler is made with a stainless steel burner and heat exchanger to resist the corrosive condensate and the unit has a condensate drain with a built in neutralizer to treat the condensate. The lightweight floor mount unit has built in leveling legs, a small footprint and can be installed with zero clearance. For added safety the unit has dual flame sensing, and sensors to detect a blocked heat exchanger or, flue. There is a outdoor temperature sensor, 120-Volt outlet for service technicians to have easy access to power, a temperature pressure combination gauge, a 30-PSI relief valve, and screened inlet and outlet included. The burner can be fired with either natural gas or LP gas after conversion. The Peerless PureFire High Efficiency Modulating Condensing Gas Fired Boiler optional equipment includes Low Water Cut-off, wall mount kits, floor stands, DHW tank sensor, and concentric venting termination kits for stainless steel, PVC, or polypropylene.

The Peerless PureFire High Efficiency Modulating Condensing Gas Fired Boiler has a full one year warranty, labor is included if the warranty card is returned. The heat exchanger has a 12 year pro rated warranty and optional 5 and 10-year plans can be purchased.
