I found this MJSI HC660 “Hydroclean” Toilet Fill Valve at Ace Hardware. This interesting product is made by MJSI Inc. a company based in Shorewood, IL. founded by Michael Schuster a fourth generation plumber. Fill valves may look different but they are all pretty much do the same thing which is refill the tank and bowl of the toilet then shut off.
The MJSI HC660 “Hydroclean” Toilet Fill Valve has a number of features I have never seen before on a fill valve. The water on most fill valve usually discharges at the base of the fill valve. The Hydroclean Fill Valve has an adjustable length “L” shaped tube the water discharges through with multiple jets of water that stir up and sediment and debris in the tank washing it through the toilet keeping the tank clean.
Another feature of the MJSI HC660 “Hydroclean” Toilet Fill Valve is a “Mini Valve” on the connection where the bowl refill tube is placed. On many toilets this flow of water to refill the bowl is unregulated so the bowl is actually overfilled which is just water down the drain. This “Mini Valve” adjusts the flow of water to the bowl so that you can set it where the bowl just refills as the tank is full and save water.
Other features of the MJSI HC660 “Hydroclean” Toilet Fill Valve include a “Float Lock” where if you are working on the toilet doing something like changing a flapper you can just flip the “Float Lock” and the tank will not refill until you release the “Float Lock” allowing the float to drop and turn on the water. With this feature you don’t have to turn off the water to the toilet while making minor repairs. The fill valve has an easy to adjust height adjustment simply release the lock turn the fill valve ¼ turn to unlock it and move it up or down to adjust the turn it back ¼ turn and it’s locked again. There is also a wing nut that tightens it to the tank that doesn’t require any tools and clicks when it’s tight enough.
