How To Remove The Toilet Seat




If you need to remove and replace your toilet seat you will need a few hand tools. You will need a Flathead screw driver and a standard pair of pliers. Even though most toilet seat bolts are made from plastic or a vinyl material they can still can give you a hard time when you are trying to remove them. So it’s best to have all the tools you will need to remove the toilet seat before you start. Once you have the toilet seat removed you can replace it with a new toilet seat.

There are many different toilet seats to choose from and you don’t have to replace yours with just a plain boring one either. In fact you can replace your toilet seat with a heated toilet seat, a bidet toilet seat or even a soft cushioned toilet seat. With today’s technology the toilet seat industry is complete different then it was 20 years ago. Bidet toilet seats can help clean way better then toilet paper and a heated toilet seat can be nice in bathrooms where the toilet seat is always cold.

Now that you have your Flathead and pair of pliers you can remove the old toilet seat and then decide what kind of toilet seat your going to install back into place. The first thing you will want to do is to pop open the covers that are over the top of the toilet seat bolts. You can do this by taking you Flathead screwdriver and just prying up the tabs. Once you have popped open the covers you will see the top of the screws that hold the toilet seat on. Underneath these screws are bolts you will need to hold with your pair of pliers.

Take your Flathead screwdriver and turn it to the left which is counter clockwise while holding the nut underneath the toilet seat rim and start to turn the toilet seat bolt. You will want to turn the toilet seat bolt until it separate from the nut that is underneath. You will have to remove both of the toilet seat bolts before you can remove the toilet seat. If the bolts on the toilet are super tight and being stubborn to remove, you could trying putting some spray lubricant on the toilet bolt threads and that should help you remove the bolts.

Once you have removed both of the toilet seat bolts you can lift the toilet seat from the bowl and place it into a trash can if you are replacing it. You will now want to install your new toilet seat in the reverse order. You will want to clean the toilet bowl thoroughly before install the new toilet seat to ensure that the toilet is bacteria and germ free.
