The Flotec Residential above ground pool pumps come in the model # FP6121 ¾ horse power pump and the model # FP6131 1 horsepower pump. The pumps often sell in the $200 to $300 range and are an economical choice when you are looking for a comparable sized pool filter pump. Both of the pool pumps run on 115-volts, 60-cycle power and require a minimum circuit size of 15-amps. Using a time delay fuse is desirable to prevent nuisance trips on starting.
Both of the Flotec Residential above ground pool pumps feature 1 ½” NPT suction and pressure ports, thermoplastic construction for corrosion resistance, a strainer with a see through plastic lid that has lugs on top to aid in opening the cover and a large capacity basket strainer inside. The motor has a built in automatic thermal overload protection for protection from overheating.
Both the Flotec FP6121 and FP6131 are supplied with a 3’ long power cord which should be plugged into a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protected circuit to prevent possible electric shock hazards for the pool users.
When closing the pool for the winter you need to properly drain the pump winterizing it to protect the pump from freezing damage, which will void the warranty.
