When Dunkirk introduced the Dunkirk Q95M-200 Modulating Condensing Gas Boiler in 2006 it was the first 95% AFUE efficiency boiler available on the market. Dunkirk has been making gas and oil-fired hot water and steam boilers for residential and commercial buildings since 1928 in Dunkirk, NY. In 1999 The Utica Companies (Utica) and Dunkirk Radiator Corporation merged to form ECR International named in honor of Earle C. Reed the founder of both companies. ECR has plants in Dunkirk, Utica, and Rome, New York and in Wallaceburg, Ontario, Canada providing equipment for all your heating and cooling needs.
The Dunkirk Q95M-200 Modulating Condensing Gas Boiler has an efficiency of 95% AFUE giving it the right to carry the Energy Star Seal. Boilers that have the Energy Star Seal are eligible for Appliance Stimulus Package rebates of $50 – 200, grants under the Weatherization Assistance Program of up to $6500 if you qualify, and are eligible for Tax Credits as well. The Dunkirk Q95M-200 Modulating Condensing Gas Boiler has a burner that modulates between 80 to 200 MBH changing its heat output relative to actual load requirements making it ideal for applications with multiple zones. You only burn as much fuel as you need to do the job without wasting fuel. The Condensing Boiler takes the heat of the flue gases and uses the heat to preheat the water going into the boiler. This takes so much of the heat out of the flue gases that steam in the flue gases condense to water releasing the latent heat of steam. The flue gases are so cool after going through the condensing boiler that they may be exhausted through a PVC pipe. The combination of Modulation and a Condensing Boiler gives the Dunkirk Q95M-200 Modulating Condensing Gas Boiler its ultra high efficiency.
The Dunkirk Q95M-200 Modulating Condensing Gas Boiler uses natural or LP gas and can be piped with left, right, or rear exit for return plumbing and gas piping. The Dunkirk Q95M-200 Modulating Condensing Gas Boiler standard features are an aluminum monoblock boiler with painted metal and plastic jacket, high limit aquastat, circulator (Taco 007 or Grundfos) with isolation ball valves, domestic hot water priority, manual reset Low Water Cut Off preventing dry firing, pressure gauge, temperature display, 30 PSI ASME rated relief valve, air purge vent, service switch, and service receptacle outlet. The Dunkirk Q95M-200’s Modulation Components consist of a microprocessor based modulating control, modulating burner, modulating automatic gas valve, and a modulating blower, the burner has a direct spark igniter. Also standard equipment on the Dunkirk Q95M-200 is a manual reset casting temperature switch, an air proving / blocked vent safety assembly, an integral condensate trap, an outdoor temperature sensor with cover, and an LP conversion kit. Options on the Dunkirk Q95M-200 Modulating Condensing Gas Boiler are concentric vent kit, a multiple boiler control with outdoor reset, priority override, lead boiler run time rotation, and the multiple boiler control comes in two sizes allowing staged firing of up to 8 boilers.
Boilers from the early to mid 1980’s AFUE ratings are often as low as 55 to 65%. If you replaced a early 1980’s boiler with an efficiency of 65% with a new Dunkirk Q95M-200 Modulating Condensing Gas Boiler its 95% efficiency would yield a gas savings of 32%. Translating that to dollars if you spent $1500 fueling a 65% AFUE boiler switching to a 95% AFUE Dunkirk Q95M-200 would save you about $500 per year on your gas bill. The combination of Appliance Stimulus Package Rebates, Weatherization Assistance Program Grants and Tax Credits make saving money on your fuel costs more affordable than ever before.
