Buderus G125BE and GB125BE Oil Fired Boiler Review

The Buderus G125BE and GB125BE Oil Fired Boilers offer some of the highest efficiencies available in a top of the line boiler to buyers. Buderus started as a manufacturer of cast iron goods in Germany about 1731, by 1835 they had expanded to five foundries and were well know for their stoves which were known as “Long Burners” today they are part of the Bosch Group have a world wide presence and are in over fifty countries. Today Buderus has product lines including Solar Energy, Geothermal Heat Pumps, Wood Fuel Burners, and Gas and Oil Burners. Their US headquarters is located in Londonderry, N.H. and their main product lines in North America include: hot water boilers, domestic hot water storage tanks, climate and energy controls, panel radiators, and other hot water heating accessories.

The Buderus G125BE Oil Fired Boiler is offered in three Non-Condensing Models with 89+% AFUE and outputs of 73, 97, 118 MBH. The Buderus GB125BE Oil Fired Boilers are offered in three Condensing Models with 91+% AFUE and outputs of 75, 100, 121 MBH which qualify for 30% Federal Tax Credit. This fall there is a unique opportunity almost a perfect storm in a sense where Appliance Stimulus Package Rebates of $50 – $200, Weatherization Assistance Grants of up to $6500 per qualifying household, existing rebate programs in about ½ the states, and the Federal Tax Credit can combine to bring the higher efficiencies of a condensing boiler into a home where it could never be afforded before.

Condensing Boilers have a secondary heat exchanger section where the high temperature exhaust is used to preheat the water returning to the boiler extracting so much heat out of the exhaust that moisture in the exhaust condenses into water and the exhaust is quite cool compared to a non condensing boiler. The preheated water is then run through the boiler to be heated to full temperature. These condensing boilers are obtaining efficiencies that were never before possible.

The Buderus BE Burner used on the Buderus 125 BE Series is a unique burner that burns at a lower temperature and recirculates the combustion gases resulting in a more complete atomization of the fuel, this gives a complete burn resulting in low nitrogen oxide emissions, and almost no soot. This complete burn gives you more heat from every drop of oil while your boiler stays cleaner and requires less servicing. Low Nitrogen Oxide levels are good for the environment too as NOx is a major component of smog.

The Buderus G125BE and GB125BE Oil Fired Boilers were developed in Europe Where fuel costs are much higher and emission requirements are much more stringent. Since 1995 over ¼ million Buderus G125BE Oil Fired Boilers have been installed and now they are available in North America. Each Buderus 125BE includes a Buderus GL-180M cast iron boiler, a BE Low-NOx Burner, a Logamatic Control which offers controls over many functions of the boilers operation resulting in improved economy of operation and greater comfort in the home, a Tigerloop® Ultra™ oil de-aerator, and 3½ “ of insulation surrounding the boiler.
