Buderus G124X Gas Boiler Review

The Buderus G124X Gas Boiler is available in 3 sizes or models with firing inputs from 74 to 132.5 MBH and efficiencies of 81.5 to 84.6% AFUE depending on the model selected. The Buderus G124X Gas Boilers are cast iron atmospheric boilers that can be fired on natural gas or, with the installation of a conversion kit can be fired on propane. Buderus started as a manufacturer of cast iron goods in Germany about 1731, and by 1835 they had expanded to five foundries and were well know for their stoves, which were known as “Long Burners.” Today they are part of the Bosch Group and have a worldwide presence and in over fifty countries. Today Buderus has product lines including Solar Energy, Geothermal Heat Pumps, Wood Fuel Burners, and Gas and Oil Burners. Their US headquarters is located in Londonderry, N.H. and their main product lines in North America include: hot water boilers, domestic hot water storage tanks, climate and energy controls, panel radiators, and other hot water heating accessories. Buderus is widely recognized as a high-end manufacturer of heating products.

The Buderus G124X Gas Boilers feature a cast iron boiler cast from Buderus’ proprietary GL-180M cast iron, which is a silicone injected, grey cast iron with a high carbon content. This GL-180M cast iron is flexible and has great resistance to thermal shock and corrosion making it a very good choice for a boiler material. The boiler sections are joined by steel push nipples and the flueways are tongue and groove joints sealed with a high temperature elastic material pressed into the joint during assembly. The boiler is surrounded by a heavy gauge steel jacket coated with blue enamel and has a full 3” of insulation surrounding the boiler to minimize standby heat losses. The G124X boilers have stainless steel premix burners, which are low emission burners, and the entire burner tray is easily removed for servicing. The G124X models are available with either the SP option, which is a standing pilot or the II option for intermittent ignition with the intermittent ignition offering the highest efficiencies. The Buderus G124X Gas Boilers may be installed with the R2107 Logamatic Control, which offers advanced controls that ensure greater comfort and lower cost operation along with diagnostic functions which lower servicing costs. Standard equipment on the Buderus G124X Gas Boilers include an aquastat, automatic igniter on the G124XII models only, 30-psi relief valve, temperature pressure gauge, boiler drain, and supply manifold. The Buderus G124X Gas Boilers also come with a 1-Year Parts Warranty on the entire boiler followed by a Lifetime Parts Warranty on the heat exchanger, which is pro-rated after 10 years of service. Optional equipment on the G124X Boilers includes the R2107 Logamatic Control, Vertical flue kit, circulator pumps and cleaning brushes.

The Buderus G124X Gas Boilers are an excellent choice for atmospheric vented gas boiler replacement that are sure to provide excellent service for years to come with high reliability and efficiency.
