Babcock and Wilcox makes three package industrial boilers, the FM series, which is a shop assembled 2-drum boiler, The HCFM series, which is a higher capacity of the FM series, and the PFM series, which is yet an even higher capacity boiler offering higher pressures as well.
The Babcock and Wilcox has been making boilers for over 150-Years with the company forming in 1867 to manufacture and sell water tube boilers. Through the years Babcock & Wilcox has grown supplying boilers for a large number of projects such as the New York Subway System, Chicago’s 1st Commonwealth Edison Plant, boilers for the Great White Fleet, participated in the Manhattan Project, built components for the USS Nautilus, and the Nuclear Power Industry. Babcock & Wilcox has even gone out of this world with projects for space exploration designing a space nuclear thermal propulsion system, holding patents on a solar bi-modal space power and propulsion system, and helping to develop the reactor plant for the Jupiter Icy Moons Orbiter. Back down on earth B&W has had many years of experience keeping our planet clean becoming a leader in emissions controls for the coal fired plants in 1973 with emission control devices for SOx, NOx, & Mercury. Today Babcock and Wilcox Company is recognized as an industry leader with electrostatic precipitators, NOx reduction systems, SOx reduction systems, emissions monitoring, scrubbers, particulate control systems, carbon control, mercury control, air toxin controls, measurement and reporting systems. In addition to designing, manufacturing and installing their own boilers and environmental equipment, Babcock & Wilcox Company also services, repairs, and upgrades any other manufacturers systems and is ready to help utilities and industrial customers meet the requirements of the new EPA MACT regulations.
The Babcock & Wilcox Company has it’s water tube package boilers installed at hospitals, universities, utility companies, and at manufacturing and processing facilities for a wide array of industries including the pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and pulp & paper industries on over 90 countries world wide. Babcock & Wilcox makes the following water tube package industrial boilers:
- The FM-Series line has 29 models with steam capacities of 10,000 – 260,000 lb/hr (1.3 – 32.8 kg/s), pressures up to 1,250 psig (8.62 MPa), and steam temperatures up to 850 F (454C). They can be fueled with #2 – #6 oil, natural gas, and other fuels that are either liquid or, gaseous. The FM Series is a 2 drum, D-Type Boiler, with a membrane construction, and a superheater. They are shop assembled and can be shipped by rail, truck, or barge.
- The HCFM-Series line is an engineered high capacity extension of the FM-Series with steam capacities from 200,000 – 400,000 lb/hr (25.2 – 50.4 kg/s), pressures up to 1250 psig (8.62 MPa), and steam temperatures up to 875 F (468 C). They can be fueled with #2 – #6 oil, natural gas, and other fuels that are either liquid or, gaseous. The HCFM-Series is a D-Type Boiler with a membrane construction, a superheater and multiple burners for extra capacity. They have a modular design and can be assembled in the shop, dockside or, in the field, with shipping by barge or, ship.
- The PFM-Series line is an engineered high capacity and high-pressure extension of the FM-Series with steam capacities from 200,000 – 600,000 lb/hr (25.2 – 75.6 kg/s), pressures up to 1800 psig (12.4 MPa), and steam temperatures up to 1,000 F (538 C). They can be fueled with #2 – #6 oil, natural gas, and other gaseous fuels. The PFM-Series is a D-Type Boiler with a membrane construction, a superheater and multiple burners for extra capacity. They can be assembled in the shop, dockside or, in the field, with shipping by barge or, ship.
