How To Remove & Replace An Old Leaking Toilet Flapper
If your toilet flapper is leaking and your ready to replace it with a new toilet flapper then you will have to do first shut the water off to the toilet bowl. Once the water is off you can remove the toilet chain from the old toilet flapper. Once the toilet bowl flush chain is removed you can remove the toilet flapper from the tank. If you have a plastic flush valve you can remove the flapper tabs from the ears on the side of the flush valve. On some brass flush valves you will have to slide the old toilet flapper off. When replacing the new flapper with the toilet bowl flapper you will just have to replace it the same way you removed the old flapper. You will have to either slide on or clip on the tabs to the existing toilet flush valve.
How To Adjust The Fluidmaster 400A Toilet Fill Valve
The Fluidmaster 400A Toilet Fill Valve Adjusts from 9″ to 14″ to help you save water every time you flush your toilet bowl. You can adjust the Fluidmaster Fill Valve by twisting the shaft in and out of the valve body. This twisting will allow the height to be lowered and raised. The Fluidmaster Fill valve height should be adjusted so that the critical level mark on the valve body is at least 1″ inch above the overflow pipe inside the toilet bowl tank.
How To Remove An Old & Stubborn Toilet Fill Valve
If you are having trouble removing the old toilet valve you will want to know the proper way to replace the toilet valve. The first thing you will want to do is to make sure that you shut the water off to the toilet. Then you will want to remove the toilet tank lid and then flush the toilet. Once you flush the toilet no more water should be filling the tank. Now you will want to place one hand on the old toilet fill valve and the other hand you will be using to loosen the mounting nut on the underside of the toilet tank. You can loosen this mounting nut with a small pipe wrench or a pair of channel lock pliers. You will want to turn the mounting nut on the bottom of the toilet tank counter-clockwise to loosen it. When its time to replace the toilet fill valve you will want to turn this nut clockwise to tighten it down. You off course will be doing this with the new toilet fill valve instead of the old valve you are removing.
Once you have cracked the nut free you will want to spin it all the way off so you can then pull the old fill valve out of the toilet tank. If you have not already removed the toilet supply line you will want to do that before completely removing the toilet fill valve mounting nut. You can remove the toilet supply like with that same pair of small channel lock pliers or you can use an open end adjustable wrench.
