The Lochinvar Squire Indirect Water Heater is available in six models from 30 – 119 gallons and is constructed from 316L stainless steel to ensure a long service life.
Lochinvar started in 1946 as the Walter Vallett Company founded by Walter Vallett Sr. which later acquired the Michigan Tank And Furnace Company and changed the company name to Lochinvar Water Heater Corporation. Today Lochinvar is a operated by the third generation of the Vallett family but was acquired by AO Smith in 2011 and has its world headquarters in Lebanon, Tennessee where it manufactures it’s water heaters, hydronic heating units and pool heaters for residential, commercial and industrial applications distributing their products around the world to locations in the US, Canada, UK, Europe, The Mid East, Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, and many other locations.
Indirect water heaters are essentially a tank that your domestic hot water passes through for heating. Instead of having a heating element or, a burner providing the heat source for heating the water a coil inside the tank has hot water from a boiler on its own controlled zone, circulating through it to heat the water in the tank. Indirect water heaters can usually provide a very large amount of hot water for their size in comparison to other types of water heaters. The Lochinvar Squire is no exception with its 30-gallon model producing a first hour delivery of 183 gallons and its 119-gallon model producing a first four delivery of 459-gallons with the boiler temperature of 180-degrees, incoming cold water at 58-degrees and a 77-degree temperature rise and a 14 gpm heat source flow rate. Variations in the temperature and flow rate can produce higher or, lower amounts of water as well.
The Lochinvar Squire Indirect Water Heater has a tank constructed from 14-gauge 316L stainless steel, the coil used to circulate the hot water from the boiler through is constructed from 304L stainless steel. The components of the Squire tank are fully welded together by a robotic welder eliminating any need for gaskets which can leak, then the stainless steel tank undergoes a process called “Passivation,” to restore the corrosion resistant properties of the stainless steel after welding. During the welding process iron may end up on the surface of the metal which would allow rust to form, passivation removes the iron from the surface allowing the stainless to become rust resistant again. After metal forming, welding and passivation, Lochinvar installs a tough plastic jacket and caps on the Squire tank, then a non-CFC foam insulation with an “R” value of 13.4 is injected into the 2” space between the jacket and tank to give the Lochinvar Squire a low stand-by loss which can be less then ½ F (-17.5 C) per hour.
The Lochinvar Squire Indirect Water Heater is supplied with a limit rated tank sensor, which can control the water heater zone and is fully compatible with Lochinvar Knight Boilers, and a T&P valve is also supplied as standard equipment. The Lochinvar Squire Indirect Water Heater is also supplied with a Limited Lifetime Warranty on the tank, coil and parts for leakage check with Lochinvar for complete details.
