The owners of the InSinkErator Evolution Excel® give it rave reviews citing its quiet trouble free operation and many of them have purchased a second one after buying a new home. I can tell you personally from a plumbers view that I have never been to a service call on one for either a disposer jamb or a clogged drain resulting from improper grinding.

A full line of accessories such as color and finish coordinated flanges and stoppers, optional countertop mounted switches also color and finish coordinated, and a power cord kit make this an easy and attractive installation in any kitchen new, remodeled, or old.

The InSinkErator, the “Twist-On, Twist-Off” Quick-Lock® Mount makes for an easy installation for anyone even a DIYer with only modest electrical and plumbing skills. Tools and supplies required would be:  “Hercules Sta-Put Ultra Plumbers Putty” for a stain free installation on any sink, screwdriver, channel lock pliers, fractional allen wrenches, and tubular brass or, plastic drain tubing to fit your application.  If you do not have 120 volt electrical power under the sink an electrician may be needed to supply power to the disposer. The disposer should be on a GFCI protected circuit. The disposer adds 6 11/16″ to the depth of the drain. If the drain is not low enough in the wall a plumber may be needed to lower the drain in the wall. Additional pipes added to the trap effecting the depth of the trap water seal can have an adverse effect on drainage and void the disposer warantee due to improper installation.

  1. It may be worth noting that the ProSeries Evolution Excel has an extended warranty. As a courtesy to our customers, we include this at no additional charge. Worst product I have purchased. Does nothing like ad says. Does not grind up the most basic items. Not sure what to do with this piece of junk.

      Hi Judy,

I’m not sure if there is a defect in your InSinkErator Excel or, not but most users are very satisfied with this product.
I would suggest that you contact InSinkErator to take advantage of their 7-Year Warranty with “We Come To You” service.
Call 1-800-558-5700 then press 2 and enter your Zip Code to find where to call for service.

I agree with Judy. I installed mine yesterday, using all the parts that came with the Insinkerator….I was happy until I saw where water was dripping out the Anti vibration mount, right under the spring hose clamp. When I called insinkerator, they gave me a repair shop in Minneapolis. The repair shop is closed, and I live in Oregon.

I took the parts to a Home Depot, and the plumber said it looks like a design issue. He told me to call and have insinkerator send installation parts, but when I called they wanted me to send it to repair…..I said, I bought it yesterday, and I’ll probably return it today.

          Hi Mary Ann,
Was the flange on the tailpiece set all the way into the slot of the rubber mount?
If it wasn’t it would surely leak.
As I stated above there are many satisfied installed and users of this product.

Again I would suggest that you contact InSinkErator to take advantage of their 7-Year Warranty with “We Come To You” service.
Call 1-800-558-5700 then press 2 and enter your Zip Code to find where to call for service.
It should not matter where you are located.

  3. Amanda Blake says:

This product does no where near what they claim. The photo’s at Insinkerator’s website show it grinding the top of a pineapple, carrott tops, citrus, watermelon, celery and all sorts of other things. After grinding and running water forever, I am left with a ball of fiber that I have to dig out. I called a plumber out to see if it was properly installed and it was. Numerous calls to Insinkerator were nothing more than a waste of my time. After repeated calls all I ever got was off shore tech support who kept telling me to put down more water or turn on power longer. I finally reached a person in their office after much haggling to talk to someone else and was told the product was never intended to dispose of these items. I called for warrenty service and was told to call tech support. I could have spent $100.00 and had a product that does a better job with much less water and grinding time. They should be sued for false advertising.

      Hi Amanda,
Maybe you need to look at this a little differently.
The Insinkerator Excel is indeed a fine product and I would go so far as to say I would consider it to be one of the finest garbage disposers ever made for the home kitchen. Rather than taking the plumber, tech support and warranty service to task maybe you should direct your attention to Insinkerator’s marketing and advertising departments where the blame really belongs.

The product is good as I have said but their advertising designed to impress you with the products ability to handle tough items that don’t belong in a disposer has given you expectations beyond the products ability. My advice to users of this disposer would be not to throw away the rule book of what should and shouldn’t go into a disposer and avoid items that shouldn’t. If you do run difficult to grind items add them to the disposer sparingly and run plenty of water. Remember too that just because you can get something to go through your disposer it may not go through the drain line.

In the mean time I close with please don’t believe with what they show you in the car advertisements where they show your car being driven by a race car driver. I’d like to think this may help save someone from being hurt or, killed.
